Hu Ming is an artist who grew up in Communist China. A misfit who was constantly in trouble in her early years for falling asleep while reading Chairman Mao’s red book, Hu made her way to New Zealand and then Australia when China opened up to the world.
Her art is a blend of many elements, including sensual and playfully homoerotic themes. Many of her images reflect the jobs she did during the Cultural Revolution. All images are taken from this site: emptykingdom.com/illustration-art/fine-art/hu-ming. For her biography, go to hu-ming.com.
